B-Back with a B-Bang and a B-Boom!!!

Its B-been a  B-busy year this one, not even the time to write a B-blog. Many B-events took place in the interim : B-byebye to engineering, B-reakups, B-school B-blues, B-boring lectures at NMIMS, lots of B-blithering around… B-But the B-biggest B-event was the one that compelled me to make a comeback : the B-blasts.

B-Talk has and will handle all issues in an outspoken and unbiased manner, rest assured.

It is miserable enough with the power tussles going on within the country (which has left me confused which idiot to vote for), and then a dozen terrorists barge in, shoot down everyone at sight and hold 3 hotels at siege for 62 straight hours. The Army commandos are poorly equipped than the terrorists, and Ratan Tata refuses to give a map of the Taj to the police because “it is my private property”. 2 & a half days and 200+ deaths later we declare that we have won the war against terrorism. The State Home Minister says that such incidents occur in big cities, the terrorists had planned to kill 5000 and we were able to keep the number down. The media goes into frenzy and realizing that he has made a terrible mess of a statement, the Home Minister resigns. Meanwhile the Union Home Minister who is neither proactive nor reactive, in fact he is not even active, finally he performs his first meaningful activity since being elected 4 years ago – he resigns. The Chief Minister is the next on the chopping block, and many more pink slips and resignations will follow.

I have just 2 words to describe the above scenario – UTTER CHAOS. If the Union Government thinks that sacking and restructuring the cabinet is a solution, God save them. If they think this will make the public think that they are trying to do something fruitful, someone tell them that we have grown tired of this politicking. We are Indians, and that is what is holding us back. If we were Russians we would have rioted all over the nation. If we were an African country we would have murdered off the Government and transformed into a banana republic. If we were a European nation we would have taken strong action against the Government officials rather than just sacking them. But we are Indians. And we crib, we shout slogans, we demand for justice, we mourn for our martyrs, and then we forgive. We forgive, and then we forget.

Why? Why do we have to forgive? Isn’t it time we stopped forgiving and forgetting? Isn’t it time we do more than just raise our voice and concerns? Isn’t it time for the terrorists to taste a dose of their own medicine?

Sure, as law abiding citizens we cannot just run rampage over the country. But we can compel (not plead or request) the Government to step up to the task. Enough damage has been done, and this has to be stopped, not controlled. Dawood Ebrahim, the person behind the 1993 blasts is still absconding. Many film stars and politicians have met him, then why not the police pay an official visit? Is it because Dawood will expose all the ministers of their association with him? The Lashkar-e-Toiba has their base in Pakistan, so why hesitate? If the Pak government is unwilling to cooperate, then why should we hold back our guns?

We have many scars, the remnants of the many ignominies we have been through. Let us not have scars this time, let us not let the wounds heal. Let not spirit be a cloak to indifference, let us not move on this time. Let us unite and show those blasted terrorists what a true Indian epitomizes.

Adios till the next one!!!!
